This trip would mark the end of my time in the Richmond Area, and what I'll call (mostly) a redo of my November 27, 2022 trip, which was the first one I took pictures on. June 7, 2023 would become the first road trip of mine to use the "Horizontal Half-way" picture style that I adopted the previous day, the one I still use as of December 12, 2024.
Pre-Trip
The trip back was confirmed right when I arrived at my destination on June 3rd. On this stay, I took road trips on 2 out of 3 full days (6/4 and 6/5), while switching my photo style a little bit to how it's been for over 1 1/2 years on the 6th before a Richmond Flying Squirrels game.
The 7th would end up being the chosen day for the trip home, the second such return-trip from the Richmond Area in my Road-geek career (The first was 11/27/22).
The Trip - Part One
I took my first picture of the trip at 5:50 PM, on SR-627 (Pole Green Road) in Mechanicsville. My next picture would come at 6:02 PM, on I-295 crossing into Henrico County. After that picture, I started taking the pictures more often.
At 6:10 PM, I reached the I-64 interchange, and I merged onto the westbound lanes towards Charlottesville. I passed the overhead sign that went down as my first picture of my first road trip of my career at 6:13 PM, where I got a modernized version of that sign.
I entered Louisa County at 6:22 PM, still on I-64, before reaching the US 522 Exit (Or Exit 159) just 2 minutes later. I took the exit so I could get some Dairy Queen, which is somewhat of a staple on some of my trips, and I arrived there at 6:25 PM.
The Trip - Part Two
It was a fast visit, as I left about 10 minutes later, though the exact time is unknown since my next picture after the stop wouldn't come until I was 5 miles away from Zion Crossroads at 6:47 PM, 22 minutes after I made the Dairy Queen stop.
At 6:51 PM, I took Exit 136 onto US 15 at Zion Crossroads, merging north towards Gordonsville and reaching the Louisa County straight-stretch at 6:56 PM. I reached the intersection with VA-22 at exactly 7:00 PM, continuing straight and reaching the south end of the US 33 concurrency at 7:04 PM.
Just a minute later, I crossed into Orange County and the Town of Gordonsville, which meant I was now back on the November 27, 2022 path once again. At 7:07 PM, I reached the Gordonsville Roundabout, and I took the 2nd exit onto US 33/VA-231, before taking a nice cloudy sunset photo approaching the Southwest Mountains on US 33 at 7:08 PM.
At 7:14 PM, I reached Barboursville and the VA-20 concurrency, where I stayed on US 33 towards Greene County, taking my next picture at SR-644 in Ehart at 7:17 PM. There, I made a little stop at the parking lot next to the rural intersection, before getting back on the road and entering Greene County just 6 minutes later.
I got to Ruckersville at 7:26 PM, where I took my final picture of this return-trip at 7:27 PM of the US 29/US 33 intersection.
Afterwards
This trip would be the return trip for my 2nd (Career) Richmond Area Trip, with the 3rd coming in Late-October 2023 and the 4th on June 13, 2024. The trip would also be my first road trip using the "Horizontal Half-way" picture style, which I started using just the day before the trip home.
