I know, it's been a while since I did anything on any of my websites. I took a hiatus from my travel passion from February until now, but I am glad to be returning to Hunty Roads/Travels. After my first trip since February, I touched the sites for the first time in multiple months.
Also, after that trip, I decided to make a fresh batch of new content and do some big updates to everything. My birthday was coming up the upcoming Saturday (June 14), and so I decided to make that my release day for the changes on Hunty Roads and Hunty's Travels. However, I ended up delaying it to make things as good as possible. It is now July 2nd, and the updates have now released.
Next Chapter of Hunty's Travels:
Previously, Hunty's Travels (and Hunty Roads 2.5 years ago) was a simple idea with a simple execution. Nowadays, I've come up with more content than originally planned, which I can't entirely fit onto here, but I've cleared up the path for the future of both Hunty's Travels and Hunty Roads into something better for everyone, including me.
With the below list of changes on Hunty's Travels, the site will still be a separate entity, though is a twin site to Hunty Roads, sharing this update post.
Merging Two Sites:
The Main Hunty Roads Site I created for travel-guide content is merging into Hunty's Travels! Both sites have the exact same theme, except one as for my own travels, and the other one was for giving tips. I've decided to turn Hunty's Travels into a travel guide site with an occasional story of one of my own trips.
The posts from the old Main Hunty Roads Site have been moved onto here, and the VA and NC Sites remain unaffected by this change.
Affected sites: Main Site, Hunty's Travels
New Take on Content:
Expanding on the sentence on the above section that Hunty's Travels is becoming a travel guide site, the future of Hunty's Travels will also merge with the planned future of the old main site before I came up with the idea to merge it into here. Hunty's Travels will steer away from the road-exclusive theme of Hunty Roads and will give the travel tips that the old main site would have given.
Some posts will keep the roadgeek vibes, while others will steer away completely. The site will still be travel themed of course, it's just expanding from the road-centeredness.
Discord Server:
After an even longer break from using my roadgeek Discord account, I've decided to go ahead and create a Discord server for Hunty Roads/Travels. Some of the perks on the server include early announcements for new content on any of the 3 sites, Early picture dumps from my road trips, access to Hunty's Travel Chances, updated throughout the month, and more.

New and Upcoming July Content:
Actual Special Pages:
The Special Page from the VA Site returns, still in the form of road-related content that isn't in the form of Route Posts. Take the page for Lynchburg's Freeway System for example, which is now public again.
I am also expanding the Special Page into North Carolina, with NC-exclusive content, some of which will come in the next few weeks.
Affected Sites: VA Site, NC Site
More NC Route Posts:
June 13th marked the 1-year anniversary of the expansion into North Carolina on Hunty Roads. I've decided to dedicate most of July's Route Post publishing to the Tarheel State. The first US Route Post for the state will be released this month, including some other routes throughout North Carolina.
Retired Content:
Now for the list of some features that are being retired from this new update to the websites. Some of these features may return in the future.
Monthly Blog:
Yes. The Monthly Blog finally got the final stab. After 13 such posts (12 on the 1st day of each month, the last one on the 2nd), my hiatus took over for May and June. This could technically count as July's Monthly Blog Update.
Some of the sections from the Monthly Blog will continue to exist, either as part of the websites on their own, in another page, or on the Discord Server. It is just that the Hunty Roads Monthly Blog will officially be discontinued and the page for it on the VA Site is being archived.
RIP the Hunty Roads Monthly Blog (3/1/24 - 7/2/25).
Secondary Route Posts (VA):
In another move to reduce the content overload, I've officially retired the Route Posts for Secondary Routes on the Virginia Site after shelfing them a few months ago. It makes things easier and simpler for me.
TLDR:
I merged the Hunty Roads Main Site into Hunty's Travels, created a Discord Server, came up with new content ideas, killed off the Monthly Blog, and retired Secondary Routes.
